Born in Mexico City in 1947 into a family that appreciated Art, since very early on his life he is exposed to Music, Painting, Acting and Literature.
As a child, he is enrolled for four years at the National Conservatory of Music. In his adolescence he attends the drawing and painting workshop of the maestro Antonio Grana. Under the prejudice that "artists starve to dead" he studies to be a Lawyer at the UNAM Law School and at the same time attends the "Andrés Soler" Academy of Dramatic Art.
Behind the scenes and curtains, he discovers his talent for photography in which he is welcomed by other actors who buy his work. Independently, he soaks up the subject and devours specialized literature; he grows stronger by experimenting with cameras and dark room and discovers and invents countless secrets and techniques.
Eventually hired by an advertising agency, he learns Graphic Design techniques and shortly after, he sets up his own “Advertising Design and Photography Agency” which he calls “El Conde Bartoccio”. His success is remarkable and his work is highly appreciated and valued.
In his current pictorial art, Farías is unique in his style, from his acrylics, full of details to examine with a magnifying glass, to his spectacular Digital Paintings of recent years.
A long-time Arizona resident, his passion for art has been exacerbated by new insights coupled with his vast experience. Impressed by the human concentrations of Mexico City and New York City, in contrast to the vastness and solitude of the Arizona landscapes, he finds great inspiration in this paradoxical equation. Two opposite poles.
For him, any media is valid, any tool too. From pencil and paper, to brushes and canvases or spatulas, syringes, combs or ice picks; cameras, darkroom and nowadays digital resources.
For him: "The only rule in art is that... there are no rules." He dares with media and tools, and with images and ideas too. The result is spectacular. Colours, compositions, subjects, perspective, depth, and everything with a sort of magic.
His current technique is mixed media in layers, widely used in animation and advertising, where traditionally were used transparent sheets that were superimposed on each other and finally photographed and thus each frame if it was for a film. Now it is done on the computer and the layers are also superimposed until reaching what is desired. 10% talent and 90% labour are still essential. His technique should not be confused with AI (Artificial Intelligence) which are automatic image programs where only one click is required.
